Gone Through Ash – A Poem by Michaela Whalen, Age 13

1673

This is the end

We have faced it

We have gone though

Thick and thin

Now gone

Like it was burned

By fire

Like your skin

Dark as ash

Burnt to a crisp

But that is it nothing more

Not the blood running through your veins

Or the DNA in your cells

But your skin

Forever the same

Forever not
