This is Different -Young Patriot Poetry by Michaela Whalen, 13-years-old

2042

This is Different

Top to bottom you’re different from others

We are a light

One that shines or one that darkens

You’re you

You’re them

We are us

But one tear

One smile

The dark clouds can destroy

The bright stars are destroyed

That heavy coat around your shoulders

Is getting worse by the minute

So you say

But your mind is far beyond that

So the color of your skin

Or the size of your feet

Does not explain who you are

You are you

You are them

We are us
