Delegate Ted Sophocleus of District 32 was one of the longest-serving elected officials in Anne Arundel County and was noted for his tenacity in serving those most in need. With his passing, the Anne Arundel County Democratic Central Committee (AACDCC) is tasked with recommending a replacement to the Governor to serve his remaining term through January 8, 2019. At that time, an individual elected in November 2018 will assume his position.
The AACDCC has extended the date for application to this position from the previously published date of June 19 to the NEW deadline of 5:00 p.m. on June 27. The AACDCC is accepting letters of interest from residents of Maryland District 32 who wish to be nominated for this Delegate position. Letters of interest along with resumes must be sent to annearundeldems@gmail.com by the new June 27 deadline. Interested individuals will be interviewed by the AACDCC at a time and location to be announced on its website, www.annearundeldems.com. You will be notified of your interview schedule. The name of the person selected will be sent to the Governor with a recommendation for his or her appointment to fill the remaining term of Delegate Sophocleus.
An applicant must be a registered Democrat, 21 years of age or older, who has resided in Maryland for at least one year and in District 32 for at least 6 months.
