For Some U.S. Veterans who put their lives on the line, Deportation is the Ultimate Injustice

1295

United Deported Veterans is a small non-profit working with Veterans For Peace in order to help veterans who have been deported from the United States. In current law, any felony can be a cause of deportation, and judges do not have the discretion to take into account military service. Hector Lopez who was deported 13 years ago after serving one year for a felony, was brought to the United States as a four-year-old. Maria “Lupita” Cibrian, Lopez’s wife, is also a member of the non-profit team and advocates for deported veterans in their Tijuana office.
