MARYLAND (Online) – Our Revolution Maryland, a state chapter of the grassroots political action group inspired by Bernie Sanders, approved the Anne Arundel Chapter’s recommendations for endorsement of four Democratic candidates for City Council.
Alderperson Rob Savidge (Ward 7) led the successful effort last month in the City Council to pass a Resolution in support of Medicare for All. Alderperson DaJuan Gay, also strongly supported the Medicare for All Resolution, and has been a consistent voice for Annapolis’s poor, struggling, and working-class communities. Our Revolution Maryland has been calling for the passage of Medicare for All Resolutions across the state for several years.
Additionally, Our Revolution Maryland endorses challengers Keanuú Smith-Brown (Ward 3) and Toni Strong Pratt (Ward 4). Smith-Brown is a former member of Our Revolution Maryland’s State Organizing Committee and a 2016 Bernie Sanders National Convention delegate. Strong Pratt is a long-time Annapolis organizer and community advocate who has worked tirelessly for the underserved communities of Annapolis.
In announcing these endorsements, Our Revolution Maryland Chair Chrissy Holt said: “We are very excited to endorse these strong progressive City Council candidates in Annapolis. They were selected because of their leadership, voting records, community organizing, and strong voice for working families especially the underserved Annapolis residents. We want change in Annapolis and believe these great candidates on the City Council will deliver it!!”
